CW Courts Young Women with New Line-up

The CW is appealing to its core demo of women 18-34 with youthful, soap-type fair.

Two new dramas, 90210 and Surviving the Filthy Rich, and reality series Stylista from Tyra Banks and Ken Mok, are all that have made the fall sked. The net is leasing Sunday nights to Media Rights Capital, which will produce four as yet unannounced shows.

90210 is the much buzzed about spin-off of 90’s teen drama Beverly Hills: 90210. Jennie Garth, who starred on the original series as Kellie Taylor, is set to reprise her role on the spin-off, playing a counselor at West Beverly Hills High.

Surviving the Filthy Rich, based on a novel by Zoey Dean, is about a woman who tutors a pair of spoiled heiresses to earn enough money to pay off her student loans. The show was formerly titled How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls, which is the title of the book on which the show is based.

Stylista, which will air back to back with Top Model, will feature a group of people competing to be assistant to Elle magazine’s Fashion News Director Anne Slowey.

Returning shows include network staples Smallville, Supernatural, and One Tree Hill. Tyra Bank’s Top Model returns for another cycle, while sitcoms The Game and Everybody Hates Chris survive for another season.

Freshman series Reaper will return mid-season with 13 eps.
