After what I thought was a slow start to the show’s final season, ep 3, “The Ties That Bind,” made me fall in love with BSG all over again. Why the warm and fuzzies? Read on…
Ding Dong the Witch is Dead!
Ok, Callie wasn’t exactly a witch, but I never liked her. I always thought she was needy and self righteous and, quite frankly, annoying. But when she murdered Boomer in cold blood I was so over Callie. Yeah, I know Boomer shot Adama, but Callie really killed Boomer because she was jealous of Tyrol’s Cylon lover. Adama’s shooting just let Callie off the hook. Hey Callie, watch that first step out the airlock – it’s a doozie!
Tori Feels Good Being Bad!
Tori Foster, who was not always the most interesting character, is just stockpiling secrets, now isn’t she? She’s a cylon, she flat-backed it for Gaius Baltar, and, oh yeah, now she’s a murder. She may even have to keep that last one from the rest of Club Cylon. By the by, during a NY Comic Con panel, the cast members were asked to share their favorite moments from filming. Rekha Sharma, who plays Foster, ominously replied, “You haven’t seen mine yet.” Bring it on!
The Sixes Are Not Getting With the Program!
The cylons are fighting over the existence of their very soul! The Cavil faction thinks the cylons are nothing more than the sum of their programming and as such, they should just follow the plan. The Sixes, meanwhile, believe the cylons are capable of evolving beyond their programming and should, get this, pause for introspection! Hmm…it seems that even for cylons, the best laid plans can get royally frakked up. Oh the humanity!
“The Ties That Bind” set the bar very high for the rest of the season. I can’t bear to think about the dreaded “hiatus” looming over the season. Seriously, it’s all I can do to make it to next Friday!
