Giving Britney ‘More’ Attention

Britney on HIMYM

In case you spent the last few days in a coma, apparently Britney Spears made a guest appearance on Monday’s episode of CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The show scored record high ratings. Why is this news? Why is this international news?

When Britney’s head shaving was breaking news on CNN, I thought celebrity voyeurism had reached its heights (or perhaps depths is more appropriate.) But have we officially decided, as a planet,  that any and everything Ms. Spears does is worth our attention? ‘Cause I didn’t get a vote.

Cheesy to the last, the film will be released February 2009 – on Friday the 13th.

Whether NBC produces its current 22 hours of original programming, or cuts back to 15, the focus needs to be on quality. If the next batch of offerings from NBC are as boring as Journeyman, or just a hot flaming mess, like Bionic Woman, NBC is not going to pull in viewers. Just something to think about, Mr. Zucker.
